Psylotech offers a viscoelasticity add-on module for commercial finite element codes which leverages the unique data produced by the 3D-DMA. The software is based on the distortion modified free volume model of Popelar and Liechti, which is an extension of the model proposed by Knauss and Emri. The material’s state of strain is used in a similar fashion to time-temperature superposition, accelerating or decelerating a material’s time clock to predict nonlinearly viscoelastic, large strains. The result is a powerful modeling tool capable of accounting for rate, history, temperature and pressure effects, as well as solvent absorption and damage.
