In-line Weighing

Belt scales and check weighers stand to benefit from Microscoping™ load cells. The variable range and pre-loaded offset enable equipment designs with broad specifications. A single design can monitor conveyed weight covering three orders of magnitude, eg. 0.2, 2 and 20 lbs. Check weigher accuracy would be the same whether monitoring tennis balls or bowling balls. This flexibility enables an equipment manufacturer's product line to serve a given market with fewer unique models.

The technology enables a new, differentiating type of handling equipment, where the end user can adjust the capacity with the flip of a switch. In this way, the end user can readily change his handling equipment as market conditions dictate. For example, mining operations can adjust production according to market conditions. Variable loads on coal fired power plants can be better controlled and monitored.

Microscoping™ sensors also address a typical industry problem. When non-steady flows dip below 20% of the sensor range, belt scales are known to be inaccurate. This problem could be solved by concurrently conditioning the load cell with two electronics channels. e.g. 500 and 100 kg. The zoomed in window then offers the needed accuracy when dipping into the lower range. As an added benefit, the pre-load feature removes the roller and frame weight, allowing the sensor to operate completely within its range.
